So, I thought I'd dedicate a page to explaining how and why I do certain things.
First of all, I list all of the species I find the most generally accepted binomial name (what some people refer to as 'latin name', but they frequently contain words of greek origin, if not other languages, or just made up words!)
Secondly, I list everything by Order. I don't really know why, it was just because my first post was about Butterflies, and they all fit nicely into the order Lepidoptera. However, when I came to listing my first gastropod, I found that no one agrees on orders, so I usually go for a Clade instead!
Thirdly, when I mention the species, I will alway give it's common name with a capital letter at the beginning of each word (such as Peacock Butterfly). This isn't really how it's supposed to go, but for the purpose of this blog, I think it helps make the name stand out, and also I think a species is due it's full credit!
Finally, I am sadly no expert (yet!). I get things wrong a bit, and I do try and fact check and minimise how often this happens. But they get through, so please don't hesitate to correct me; I'd rather be corrected and know the right ID than go around spreading the wrong one!
